Luxe Dressing Area Ideas - A Girl Can Dream

I have been dying to create a little dressing area in my bedroom. At present I am putting on my makeup indian style on a pillow in front of my bedroom mirror -- so it would be a big lifestyle upgrade.

I am going to start with another CB2 lucite console - which I think is a great bargain. I am going to try to set it up behind the floor mirror that I already have there - it will either look great or idiotic. For inspiration I have Nicky Hilton's gorgeous dressing area from InStyle (the vintage Chanel tray is over the top, but I love it) in mind. I think the Hadley bench from Oly Studio would look stunning - but I have my eye on a lucite and velvet bench that I wish I had a photo of.

For Accessories: A hurricane lamp from Ralph Lauren, flowers (of course), a few little cute frames like this one from Bestow and (in my wildest dreams) this photo of Marilyn.

I Am Not a Stalker Per Se...

But I was coming close this last Friday at the Yankees/ Red Sox game when I noticed Jay-Z was sitting in front of us. Not the best photo --- I wish I brought my real camera and not just my iPhone. And please note Yankee female employee #123948 of the night lurking around.  And they money we spent on the tickets went to World Hunger Year - a very worthy cause!

Jonathan Adler and Barbie: I Die!!

Alright, so this is just too adorable. Jonathan Adler has created a very Mod Barbie and Barbie Dream house furniture. Let me just say, I loved my Dream House and was very jealous of the lucky few girls with the Barbie Dream House with Elevator! I am going to pick up a few of the candles and I would love the pink throw. And perhaps the doll house sofa *hangs head in shame*....

It is worth taking a look at Adler's Dream house tour.

and I know "I die" is a little last year - but I can't help myself.....

Restaurants: Bouley

I had a late (and very decadent) lunch at Bouley yesterday (M is fasting for the holiday and I do so with him to be a supportive wife). I decided I would take some pictures to share - I felt kind of weird doing it - but whatever.

This was our first time visiting for lunch and it really is a deal. I highly suggest getting the tasting menu ($48). Although $48 is definitely not inexpensive - you really get a lot (see 3 desserts) for your money. Also, I think Bouley is one of the most beautiful restaurants. In the entry foyer they have a wall of apples that smells and looks incredible.

We are trying the new Capital Grille in our neighborhood tonight to break the fast. We have been waiting for it to open for months!

Blog Things

I want to thank Suzy for making me this lovely new banner! She took two of my favorite things (zebra print and orange). She is very talented. Thank you so much!

And I sprung for the $10 and bought ... www.onlythingsilove.com

Travel: Venice

I love Italy, and I love Venice.

I was lucky enough to go to Venice on my summer vacation where we celebrated my husband's birthday. Our hotel, the Palazzo Barbarigo, was amazing and as you see above (the last three photos from the Barbarigo website) it is very chic. It was a great counterpoint to the Hotel Danieli -- the grand hotel we stayed on our last trip (and only about 1/4th the price!) And in a city known sadly for expensive and mediocre food we found AcquaPazza - which was so delicious and gorgeous!
